Job Description

Embark on a vital career path dedicated to environmental stewardship and community well-being as a Municipal Worker specializing in Waste Management with the Beaufort West Local Municipality. You will be primarily responsible for the systematic collection, efficient transportation, and appropriate sorting of refuse from various collection points, ensuring that public spaces and residential areas remain free from litter and waste. Key Responsibilities

  • Collecting refuse from residential, commercial, and public areas according to established routes and schedules.
  • Loading refuse bags, bins, and other waste materials onto municipal vehicles.
  • Operating waste compactors and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assisting with the transportation of collected waste to designated disposal sites (landfills, recycling centers).
  • Cleaning and maintaining municipal waste collection vehicles and equipment.
  • Participating in street cleaning, litter picking, and public area maintenance activities.
  • Adhering strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or non-compliance issues.
  • Assisting with public awareness campaigns on waste separation and recycling, where required.
  • Engaging in periodic remote administrative tasks, safety briefings, or training sessions as part of our hybrid work model.
